Two Gangs Monday

Most of us grew up in Hoboken. When we were young, it was a gritty place, a home to hopeful immigrants. At one time or another, our fathers, uncles and grandfathers worked the Hudson River docks; unloading tons of goods from all over the world. It was grueling work, but they took whatever work they could to keep putting food on the table. Some shipping companies would notify the local workforce of manpower needs by simply chalking a slate board that hung on River Street, indicating exactly how many groups, or AGangs@ would be needed to unload arriving freighters, and when they were scheduled for arrival B the signs often displayingY.@Two Gangs Monday@.
Our first CD, AMiracle Mile@, is dedicated to those men and their families, who did the hard work, and dreamed the big dreamsYY
The band=s second release, AIt=s Only Life@, takes a more fundamental approach. Since we recorded it virtually Alive@ with little over-dubbing/tracking, it is a true and meaningful representation of our live shows.
All the songs are about Love lost and found; about loneliness, romance and even those instances when we have to laugh to keep from going crazy. Some are light and wistful B some are darker and questioning; the ancient, maddening dance of men and women, struggling to work things out. Some of these songs are recent compositions, while others have been kicked around by the group for a generation or so.
